A “make-it-happen” trend- spotter, Ayelet is known for her unique blend of intelligence, insight, humor and finesse. She has an impressive track record for scaling organizations, identifying new markets, leading virtual teams, improving customer relationships, fueling innovation and surpassing performance targets. Ayelet has been working online since the late 80s and was among the first systems operators for CompuServe in the early 90s. She also launched the first internal online community at Cisco in 1999.
Today Ayelet is at the forefront of fixing what’s broken in business. At Simplifying Work, she is focused on pioneering more people-centered ways to work that leverage new tools to connect, collaborate and innovate. Using design thinking and value driven business principles, Ayelet helps leadership teams build connected business networks and thriving organizations. She currently serves as an adjunct leadership team member in Genentech’s innovation management for the Clinical Operations Product Development organization.
For more than a decade, Ayelet climbed the corporate ladder at tech giant, Cisco Systems. Prior to launching Simplifying Work, she was the chief strategy officer for Cisco Canada. Her leadership propelled Canada from the sixth to the second largest revenue generating country for Cisco at nearly $2B. During her Cisco tenure she worked in Emerging Markets and IT, masterminding global sales, mobile health, organizational transformation, web enablement and go-to-market strategies. Earlier in her career she directed change initiatives for Fortune 500 companies, launched a market research company and conducted public opinion polls for The Globe and Mail.
An entrepreneur twice over, Ayelet founded her first company, PeopleComm, in 1995. Her work with senior executives encompassed implementing a supply chain management process for a Canadian retailer and enabling a pharmaceutical company to meet its $22-million sales target. She also designed a Virtual Office Internet site for Ernst & Young Canada, which won a Bell Atlantic Award.
Investing her time and passion for creating a new generation of leaders, Ayelet shares her expertise with many people around the world. She supports a former Cisco colleague Hital Muraj by mentoring youth in Kibera, Nairobi. She also helped launch a technology center there. In 2013 co-founded Creatingis, a movement to enlist a new breed of leaders who are making a difference in their communities with Tim McDonald. She served as president for IABC/Toronto and as member of their international board in the late 90s. As a Cisco Leadership Fellow in 2009, she helped launch the Global mHealth Alliance. She also volunteered at NetHope supporting its 32 global NGOs in driving their Information and Communications Technology healthcare strategy. Her work included teaching these organizations how to leverage the power of social media through workshops and the handbook she authored, Social Networking for Social Good.
